We are releasing a completely new module with which you can plan more effective promotional campaigns. It makes it possible to apply for various promotions both to groups of goods and to single items, in different time periods. The system will choose the best offer itself. Be sure to familiarise yourself with the changes and check what other possibilities you'll gain with the latest IdoSell module.
The new promotion module can be found in the menu MARKETING AND INTEGRATIONS / Promotions. This change is a response to the needs of our clients, who over the years have given us numerous comments on how they would like the module to work. As a result of the analysis, we've created a completely revolutionary, as for IdoSell, the concept of promotions, consistent with the rest of the promotional elements, i.e. the discount codes module.
The previous promotions interfered with the goods database by changing the price and saving the initial price. The new module abandons this action in favor of dynamic calculation. Thanks to this, the existing base price in the panel shall not be overwritten either. It shall function in the same way as the calculation of discounts or special offers.
Thanks to this inconspicuous change, the new promotions module introduces a number of new functionalities. Now you can create multiple promotions for the same commodity, even in the same period at the same time. The system will not block you, which improves the ease of setting up promotions. New promotions can be set up independently of the external ERP system. Updating discounted goods prices will no longer be a hassle.
The new view, the promotions calendar, is now clearer. You know exactly what promotions, in which shops and in what time period you have planned in your shops. If you prefer the previous view, we have provided an option to return to the standard presentation of promotions, i.e. a list.
A very welcome change has occurred in terms of the fact that one item can be in any number of overlapping promotions at one time, each shop independently. Until now, one commodity could only be in one promotion at a time. To add it to another promotion, you had to locate it, remove it from the promotion and add it to the new one.
You may decide whether all promotions shall be counted for the customer or whether the most beneficial one shall be selected.
In the new module, you can plan the start and end of a promotion at any time. The price reduction will be visible immediately on the commodity card. In the previous module, the promotion started or ended around midnight (or on demand), and the process of setting promotional prices could take longer.
Note: For the promotion countdown timer available in the Standard template to show correct values, the shop template will need to be updated.
In the new promotions module, you do not have to add each single commodity to a promotion separately. If you want to promote products of a selected producer or from a specific category, you can easily search for them and add to the promotion. In our opinion, this is a much more natural way of defining promotions that corresponds with the shop operation practice.
The previously added options Change hidden to visible items at the start of the promotion and Automatically remove items from the promotion when stock levels are exhausted shall operate only on items individually added to the promotion. Implementation of these options based on groups would require adding an unnatural mechanism of excluding a given commodity from the promotion, which at the implementation stage seemed to us unnecessary and complicated the module.
Until the expiration of the existing module, there will be two promotion mechanisms functioning in the IdoSell panel. Thus, you'll be able to add two types of promotions simultaneously for the same commodity. In such a situation, the commodity price will be reduced twice - the first time it will be reduced by the existing promotion mechanism changing the price in the commodity (database), then the reduction will be dynamically calculated within the new module. Despite compatible operation, we encourage you to create promotions only in the new module.
Currently, both promotion systems are available in parallel. But due to changes and improvements being made, the legacy promotion module will no longer be developed. You will only be able to add discounts in the legacy module until the end of 2021. Be sure to check out the new module and switch your operation to the new module to avoid the inconvenience of the withdrawal of the old module. During this period, we look forward to receiving your comments on the module's operation, detected bugs and problems.
With the introduction of the new promotion mechanism, we have added a method in API Admin to allow you to add promotions. The insertPromotion method available in the gateway ProductsMarketing allows you to add campaigns only under the new promotion mechanism.
The base price of the goods will always be updated via the API, i.e. the one that will be visible to the customer after the promotion.
Promotions and discounts keep your customers happy. This translates into an increase in conversions and a decrease in abandoned baskets in your shop. According to the KPMG.pl report "Sale and promotions - how Poles' shopping habits change" 49% of respondents delay their purchasing decision until a promotion or sale starts.
Promotions give a feeling of savings and satisfaction. Sometimes it is deceptive, because customers, encouraged by a discount, decide to buy additional products so that the value of their basket is ultimately greater than initially assumed. Almost every second respondent admitted that during shopping they decided to buy other, previously unplanned products. Most often these were two additional items.
Sales always have a time limit and the customer knows that if they delay their decision, the promotion or stock of the product range will run out. Although sales are costly, in the end, a well-run promotion pays off and can bring online shops huge profits and a group of new customers.
