Standard templates have been optimized for Core Web Vitals
Web Vitals is a Google initiative that aims to highlight best practices in web development. The result of this initiative is to be a new look at website performance, where, apart from the points, user experience based on specific guidelines is the most important thing. In a few months, web metrics will become part of the Google search algorithm.
What exactly are Internet Indicators?
Web metrics are about more than just loading speed - it's also the way a website loads and the fluidity with which it performs.
In 2021, 3 indicators are distinguished that have particular value for Google (and for users). These are known as Core Web Vitals:
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) - time needed to load the largest element on the page (e.g. main banner on the home page).
- First Input Delay (FID) - the time from the first user interaction with the website (e.g. clicking a banner) to the browser reaction (smooth operation).
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) - any unwanted shifts that occur while the page is loading.
The last one - Cumulative Layout Shift - is often shown as the best example of why Google decided to promote certain methods of page implementation. It is enough to imagine the situation that happened to most of us - our finger is already landing on the button, but at the last moment some other element is recharged on the page and, as a result, we click not where we wanted. It is this shift that is referred to as CLS.
The new approach therefore promotes not only counting speed in seconds, but also thinking about how the page loading affects the convenience of visitors.
Standard templates ready to update the Google algorithm
We took a closer look at both the basic internet indicators and the remaining ones from the Web Vitals group, so that STANDARD templates were prepared for the update of the Google search algorithm.
